We tested many brush materials before settling on a nylon and boar bristle combo, which we chose for several key reasons.
A boar bristle brush on its own is great for distributing natural oils from the scalp to the ends of the hair, which we think is super beneficial. But we also wanted this brush to detangle and hold the hair during blow drying, so it takes shape as you style. That's where the nylon comes in.
We went out of our way to source a higher grade nylon that doesn’t melt the first time you use a blow dryer. That means the brush lasts a long time, and the nylon combined with the silicone pad avoids becoming short lived, single use plastic.
We also tested wooden pins, but they didn’t give enough grip for styling because they’re so large, better suited for wet detangling. We tried metal pins too, but they got too hot and felt like they were adding extra heat damage to the hair.
