I received your TONIK as a gift, and it seems to be really popular. I am curious about “alcohol” being the 2nd ingredient. What kind of alcohol is it? I don’t want it to be drying to my scalp or hair.
Thanks for your question.
Every time I see alcohol second on the ingredient list for TONIK, it's always a bit of a surprise, even for us here who know how it's made. The alcohol it's referring to is ethyl alcohol, in every case here made with cane sugar.
The total percentage of alcohol in TONIK is 8.2378%. The reason it ends up so high on the list is NOT that we add a bunch of alcohol to the formulation, but rather that so many of the long, long list of botanicals in TONIK are delivered in alcohol as the raw ingredient. For instance, the blueberry, holy basil tulsi, witch hazel, and 14-botanical tea are all delivered in an alcohol-solvent base. So the percentages add up. And the rest of the formulation is such a long and varied ingredient list of botanicals (on purpose!) that few other ingredients add up to as high a percentage.
We get a lot of feedback about TONIK. It's our number 1 product since day one. Drying is not one of the things we hear. If anything we sometimes hear the opposite, at which point we tell people they are using too much.
Hope this explanation answers your question and satisfies your concerns. Hope you decide to try TONIK and that you love it!
Many thanks,
