I would love to see a comprehensive comparison guide between CREAMPOP and the new ASTRAL AMINO SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER, please :)

Great question! What's the difference between CREAMPOP and ASTRAL AMINO? The biggest distinction is how they clean the hair and how the hair feels afterward.

CREAMPOP doesn't rely on traditional surfactants. Instead, it uses fatty alcohols to gently trap dirt and sebum, which are then rinsed away. It doesn't leave you with that squeaky clean feeling; it leaves behind the softness of a leave-in conditioner. This is ideal for thick, dry, curly, or frizzy hair types. But if your hair feels weighed down or too soft afterward, ASTRAL AMINO might be the better fit.

ASTRAL AMINO SHAMPOO and CONDITIONER are much lighter than CREAMPOP. You'll likely notice more volume and bounce right away. The shampoo uses plant-based surfactants, which are green, clean, and gentle. Our shampoo is also superfatted, meaning it adds a light touch of moisture as it cleans without that over-cleaned “squeaky” feel. Another key point is that surfactants remove silicones and quats buildup, which are very common in many other hair care lines. We do not use any just to clear.

If you're not sure whether those ingredients are in your other products, take a peek at the label. Any ingredient ending in "–cone" (like dimethicone) is a silicone, and anything with "–onium" ( like Cetrimonium) is usually a quat. These ingredients coat the hair and build up over time. According to studies, you should shampoo at least every two weeks to remove them properly, and ASTRAL AMINO will do just that. CREAMPOP won't remove the buildup of silicones and quats because it is surfactant-free. So many of our guests use ASTRAL AMINO Shampoo to clarify and CREAMPOP in between for added moisture. The cool thing about ASTRAL AMINO Shampoo is that it also works beautifully as a face and body wash, keeping your entire shower routine clean and non-toxic.

So, while both are gentle and effective, they serve different needs.

  • If you use products that contain quats and silicones or if you want maximum volume, ASTRAL AMINO is your go-to.
  • If your hair is dry, thick, or frizz-prone and you love a bit of weight and a leave-in feel, CREAMPOP is for you.
  • Then there is the mix-and-match: clarify with ASTRAL AMINO, then use CREAMPOP when you want more moisture.
